Vladimir Vysotsky - Self Portrait

This record is very different than all of other stuff I have on this blog. Vladimir Vysotsky has been dubbed the Bard of the Russian people in the soviet era, although he was not super pro-soviet himself. Vysotsky often sings of decadence, loneliness, society, and other things from translations I have read of some songs lyrics, although I do not speak Russian myself and can not say first-hand. Vladimir's emotion and honesty bleed through the music of raw feeling. This acoustic album is a live recording, but is some of my favorite recordings. This album is very good. If any of my readers have anything more by this artist please leave me a comment or something like that.

The Futurist Manifesto by F. T. Marinetti (1909)

"Museums, cemeteries! Truly identical in their sinister juxtaposition of bodies that do not know each other. Public dormitories where you sleep side by side for ever with beings you hate or do not know. Reciprocal ferocity of the painters and sculptors who murder each other in the same museum with blows of line and color. To make a visit once a year, as one goes to see the graves of our dead once a year, that we could allow! We can even imagine placing flowers once a year at the feet of the Gioconda! But to take our sadness, our fragile courage and our anxiety to the museum every day, that we cannot admit! Do you want to poison yourselves? Do you want to rot?

What can you find in an old picture except the painful contortions of the artist trying to break uncrossable barriers which obstruct the full expression of his dream?

To admire an old picture is to pour our sensibility into a funeral urn instead of casting it forward with violent spurts of creation and action. Do you want to waste the best part of your strength in a useless admiration of the past, from which you will emerge exhausted, diminished, trampled on?

Indeed daily visits to museums, libraries and academies (those cemeteries of wasted effort, calvaries of crucified dreams, registers of false starts!) is for artists what prolonged supervision by the parents is for intelligent young men, drunk with their own talent and ambition.

For the dying, for invalids and for prisoners it may be all right. It is, perhaps, some sort of balm for their wounds, the admirable past, at a moment when the future is denied them. But we will have none of it, we, the young, strong and living Futurists!"

Furia (Poland) - Martwa Polska Jesień

Poland has been coming out with alot of awesome black metal over the last few years. This is one of the first albums that brought that to my attention. Fast, driving, and exciting to listen too. This album keeps the listener enthralled for the whole of the cd and leaves the listener wanting more. Furia seems to take some elements from other styles of metal and blends them seamlessly into a very unique but still very black metal tone that is all their own.

Getting to know your Bioregion (Cascadia)

by Jeff Mocniak with contributions from Tina Floyd

Renzo Novatore - Toward the Creative Nothing

Excerpt from the beginning:

Our epoch is an epoch of decadence. Bourgeois-christianplebeian civilization arrived at the dead end of its evolution a long time ago.

Democracy has arrived!

But under the false splendor of democratic civilization, higher spiritual values have fallen, shattered.

Willful strength, barbarous individuality, free art, heroism, genius, poetry have been scorned, mocked, slandered.

And not in the name of "I", but of the "collective". Not in the name of "the unique one", but of society.

Thus christianity---condemning the primitive and wild force of the virgin instinct-killed the vigorously pagan "concept" of the joy of the earth. Democracy-its offspring-glorified itself making the justification for this crime and reveling in its grim and vulgar enormity.

Already we knew it!

Christianity had brutally planted the poisoned blade in the healthy, quivering flesh of all humanity; it had goaded a cold wave of darkness with mystically brutal fury to dim the serene and festive exultation of the dionysian spirit of our pagan ancestors.

In one cold evening, winter fatally fell upon a warm midday of summer. It was-christianity-that, substituting the phantasm of "god" for the vibrant reality of "I", declared itself the fierce enemy of the joy of living and avenged itself knavishly .on earthly life.

With christianity Life was sent to mourn in the frightful abysses of the most bitter renunciations; she was pushed toward the glacier of disavowal and death. And from this glacier of disavowal and death, democracy was born.

Prurient - Black Vase

Audial brain death.

Ash Pool - Black Bondage in the North

Dominick Fernow of Prurient's black metal side project. This album I would say is the most tame of theirs that I have heard, however it is still quite raw, as well as it is quite good.

Vishudha Kali - Psenodakh

This is an amazing ambient album by Vishudha Kali. This album is made up of nearly entirely of different effects put on the human voice which gives it a very unique feel. It is very relaxing and ritualistic that brings you to a time other than our own.

Armagedda- Only True Believers

Black Metal

A Challenge of Honour - Only Stones Remain

This is the first album I heard in Martial Industrial genre at the time. The second track Jonestown is what really got me. I have never heard anything like it at the time, it was brutal and uncompromising and yet completely devoid of all previous signals of extreme music I was used to. A Challenge of Honour in this album produces bombastic martial music fit for anyone in search of music with an aura of honor, regality, and imperialism, but in other tracks it also has an essence of romance, the will of human nature, and some nostalgia for a lost past. An excellent album.

Alda - Demo 2009

Alda is a newer Black Metal band from Tacoma, Washington. Playing in what I would call typical Cascadian Black Metal Fashion, not to say this is a bad demo, for I highly enjoy it. While their is nothing really revolutionary about this demo, it is well made and quite listenable. The Black Metal is fast, but at the same time very rhythmic, and has a folk interlude at the end of the first song which is quite enjoyable. I will be seeing this band for the first time tomorrow so I may wright a short review on how that is if anything of note happens.

Mania - Current Chaos demo / The Death Of Birth / Endless Hunger EP

Black Metal
(Salem, Oregon)

"The endless struggle to survive is what Mania is about. Primitivism is the key. No amount of leftist 'anarchist' and 'vegan' ideas will change this world; only personal fulfillment to better you and your immediate community can change your life. A never-ending, all encompassing, urban sprawl of technological infrastructure will engulf all life and there is no fighting it.. only embracing it and using it to further your immediate needs until it collapses. Don't miss the point here. Nature is important, however Cascadia is just like the rest of the world. A symbolic longing for a life of nature is all we have here."

This Includes three releases.
Current Chaos demo (2006)
The Death Of Birth (2007)
Endless Hunger EP (2008)

Strangers In Life, Brothers In Death... (Compilation)

Military Marches

This is a Compilation I made of military march songs and folk songs sung in the military by participating soldiers of a couple different eras and subjects. These subjects include the Spanish Civil War (Songs from both the republic and the francoists are included), the Romanian Iron Guard, aswell as military march songs from modern communist China and North Korea. I tried to keep them relatively sorted out by subject. This is my first Compilation, I hope you all enjoy it.
